These companies played a key role in making Ride To Fiji a success. Thank you to the Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort, Fiji Airways, Rosies Holidays and South Sea Cruises’ Malamala Beach Club. With these donated prizes as encouragement, the staff raised more money than expected” Ignite Travel Group matched that figure to double the donation. About Cure Kids FijiCure Kids Fiji launched in 2006 to address two of the biggest child health challenges in Fiji: to Prevent Rheumatic Heart Disease and ensure that No Child Dies for Lack of Oxygen. Rheumatic Heart disease affects 1 in 30 children in Fiji yet it is a preventable condition and one of the leading causes of Fijian child fatalities. Treating children with oxygen reduces death by 35%, yet many health facilities in Fiji don’t have a reliable life-saving oxygen supply. Cure Kids Fiji, in partnership with Fiji Ministry of Health, is piloting new ways of improving the availability, affordability and clinical use of oxygen to save lives. Having undertaken a range of fundraising initiatives for its dedicated charity, Cure Kids Fiji, Ignite Travel Group recently presented a cheque for FJ$14,325 to a delighted beneficiary. In a speech to the Cure Kids Fiji members and special guests, Ignite Travel Group family also vowed to continue to promote and support Fiji – Ignite Travel Group launched its first dedicated destination brand, My Fiji, which is now part of the My Holiday Centre suite of brands, in 2009. Among the fundraising activities undertaken were a Raw Challenge obstacle courses, office donation jars, lunchtime BBQs on the Broadbeach office balcony, sales of old office furniture and computers, raffles and an unusual bike-a-thon, that commenced on Fiji Day (10 October 2017). The group set out to collectively cycle the distance from their office to Fiji on two stationary exercise bikes — a total distance of 2763km. CEO, Ryan Thomas commented, “All of our staff got stuck into the challenge and had heaps of fun. We reached our target well ahead of time!last_img
